Nearly 50 years after the first NYC March, it has become a staple of the Pride scene.
Its stated goal has broadened to countless issues, and will incorporates parade participants from hundreds of different groups when it starts on June 25, at 12pm.
Last year, 350 marching contingents joined in, with more than 80 floats included in the spectacular parade down the stunning Fifth Avenue.

It will start off from 36th Street and Fifth Avenue at 12pm on June 25, and end at Christopher and Greenwich.
For the first time in NYC Pride history, the March will be broadcast live on ABC7 – but it’s nothing like the experience of actually being there.
Special guests at the the March this year will include trans activist and firefighting hero Brooke Guinan, gay dating app Blued creator Geng Le and the American Civil Liberties Union, who have played such a big part in fighting back against some of Donald Trump’s most reprehensible policies.
New York has also managed to attract sponsorship from T-Mobile, Facebook, Diet Coke, Delta and dozens of others.

PrideFest: June 25 from 11am to 6pm, on Hudson Street between Abingdon Square and W. 14th Street
Going into its 24th year, PrideFest is an annual LGBT street fair with star power.
Thousands of people gather from all over the US to enjoy entertainment, food, drink and being with each other in the name of equality.
This year, that involves multi-platinum best-selling artist LeAnn Rimes, of Can’t Fight The Moonlight and How Do I Live? fame.
So come get your Coyote Ugly flashbacks going at this completely free event, where you can also eat, drink and pick up some excellent Pride swag. There’s no better way to show your pride all year round.
Moxie: June 23 from 4pm to 11pm, at the Taj II Lounge on 48 West 21st Street
On a Friday after work, all you’ll need is this sexy women-focused event. Throw on your high stiletto heels or dapper formal shoes and get on down in the Flatiron district.
Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Mary Lambert is due to perform her hit songs Secrets and Same Love, which is reason enough to attend.

What is the history of New York City Pride?
The first Pride March in NYC was held in 1970, a year after the Stonewall riots, with marchers taking up the entire street for about 15 city blocks.
In later years, the March has celebrated victories in same-sex marriage, with New York making it legal in 2011, becoming the most populous state to do so at that point.
