An acrobat who died during a performance after falling from 100 feet left a heartbreaking message for his boyfriend the day before his tragic accident.
Pedro Aunion Monroy was a performer who was working Madrid’s Mad Cool Day festival.
Part of his routine saw him performing in a glass box that was suspended 100 feet up in the air.
It is thought that he was wearing a harness but authorities have not yet explained how he fell.
Monroy, who lived in Brighton, was a warm-up act for the band Green Day.
The band came on the stage after the fall and performed as they reportedly were not told of the horrific accident.
Green Day tweeted after the performance to say: “We just got off stage at Mad Cool Festival to disturbing news.
“A very brave artist named Pedro lost his life tonight in a tragic accident”.
The 30-year-old has been commemorated online but friends and family have been left heartbroken as the last message that Monroy posted online was for his partner, Michael.
Monroy shared an illustration of the two on Facebook along with the message: “I can’t wait to see my beautiful boyfriend.
“Love, come to my arms!!!!!”
Friends and family of the couple shared messages of support for Monroy’s partner.
One person wrote: This is just heartbreaking Michael, I am so sorry. My heart hurts for you. No words. I will find something I can do for you and help you with. all my love”.
The performer’s sister said that they were “destroyed” over the loss of Monroy.
