Former Strictly star Will Young to launch new LGBT podcast inspired by Woman’s Hour

Popstar Will Young is set to launch a new gay version of Woman’s Hour.
The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant says he’s a huge fan of the BBC Radio 4 show, which made him keen to set up his own.
Homo Sapiens, his new LGBT podcast, is due to be launched at the end of July.
The first episode will air on July 25, to coincide with the 50th annivrsary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales.
Young and his longtime friend Chris Sweeney will be inviting LGBT activists on each episode, including Iraq veteran James Wharton.
The pair said: “As ‘Woman’s Hour’ super-fans, we adored the 70th anniversary celebrations late last year.
“The presenters were looking back at how their programme started and how pioneering it was to show current affairs from a female perspective – this sparked a conversation between us about the LGBTQ+ community and how great it would be to have a similar voice.
“It was a real lightbulb moment and the idea of ‘Homo Sapiens’ was born!
“Through recording this podcast, we’ve had a lot of fun, drunk a lot of tea, and learned a huge amount from some of the bravest, most intelligent and fun people who have paved the way for all LGBTQ+ people.”
The Pop Idol winner recently opened up about his tough time dating guys.
He previously went two years without having sex – prompting the star to resort to dating apps.
He told The Guardian that a friend suggested he download the popular gay dating application.
“He just said: ‘Who cares?’ And yeah, who cares? I’m an adult,” Will said.
However his Grindr experience didn’t exactly go to plan.
Using a real photo of himself led many to disbelieve the profile was truly Will Young’s.
And, within little time, Grindr had removed the profile after it was flagged as fake.
“That was a time then, and I think it can move into unhealthy behaviour.
“Now I want a relationship that is a different thing to having a shag.”
