Transgender athlete and reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner is seriously considering running for a seat in the Californian senate.

Jenner has once again confirmed that she is considering a political career after she suggested that she was “looking into” becoming a politician in order to fight President Trump’s anti-trans agenda.

Speaking to radio host John Catsimatidis today (July 16), the star explained that she was looking into running for a seat in the senate.

She said: “Yeah, I would look for a senatorial run.

“I like the political side of it. I work very closely with a group called the American Unity Fund whose mission statement is to get the Republican Party to do a better job when it comes to all LGBT issues. That’s my issue.”

Jenner went on to explain that she would use her position in politics to push important issues that affect transgender people directly.

“I’m obviously more on the T portion of the LGBT and I want people to understand that. But the political side of it has always been very intriguing to me.

“Over the next six months or so, I’ve gotta find out where I can do a better job.

“Can I do a better job on the outside? Kind of working the perimeter of the political scene [and] being open to talk to anybody.

“Or are you better off from the inside, and we are in the process of determining that,” she added.

Jenner previously explained that although the Democrats would be undoubtedly better at championing LGBT rights, she was a supporter of the Republican party and feels she should offer her help to them.

However, she also said that her “deal-breaker with the Republican party” was that “if you mess with my community – you don’t give us equality and a fair shot – I’m coming after you.”

Since coming out as transgender, Jenner has spoken about a number of issues including her own struggles with mental health.

While promoting her latest memoir, The Secrets of My Life, she said that she had contemplated suicide before coming out as transgender.

She has also said that it was “hard” to give up on life as Bruce and that her pre-transition persona “still lives inside”.

She told The Guardian newspaper: “I had a life for 65 years. OK?

“I liked Bruce. He was a good person. He did a lot in his life. Oh, ‘he didn’t even exist’.

“Yes he did exist! He worked his butt off. He won the [Olympic] Games. He raised amazing kids.

“He did a lot of very, very good things and it’s not like I just want to throw that away,” she added.
