Dustin Lance Black pays emotional tribute to Tom Daley as he wins World Championships
Tom Daley has been crowned 10m diving world champion.
The husband to Dustin Lance Black claimed his first major title in eight years.
It comes after a disappointing Olympic performance in Rio when he missed out on gold for the third Games in a row.
The 23-year-old’s victory came in the 10m platform final in the World Aquatics Championship held in Budapest.
He was crowned champion with a score of 590.95, beating Olympic champion Chen Aisen of China who came in with a tally of 585.25.
Agonisingly, the score would have bagged him gold in the Rio Olympics last year.
Daley told the BBC: “It’s been such a tough year getting over that competition in Rio.
“I’m just so happy with the way it turned out.
“My score was a personal best and I think it would have got the gold last year at the Olympics.”
Husband Dustin Lance Black, who married Daley in a stunning “fairytale” castle wedding ceremony, paid an emotional tribute following the win.
He wrote on Instagram: “I already couldn’t have loved you more or been prouder so I’ll just go full Texan and say Holy Cow! My husband is World Champion!
“Now let’s go honeymoon. I love u @tomdaley1994!!
Daley also spoke out about finally being able to go on the honeymoon.

He recently agreed to back a TV appeal for The Brain Tumour Charity.
Tom has experienced the charity’s support first hand, when his father Robert tragically died at just 40 years old in 2011.
This was just a year before Tom’s biggest fan was set to watch him compete in the London Olympics.
The campaign aims to increase awareness so that brain tumours can be spotted and diagnosed earlier.
