Getting our hopes up? Piers Morgan hints he quit Good Morning Britain
Piers Morgan hinted that he has quit Good Morning Britain (GMB) today.
The controversial ITV host surprised Sussanna Reid with comments about his “last day”.
Morgan has come under considerable fire in recent weeks for his comments on non-binary people, prompting calls for him to resign from some LGBT campaigners.
Today marked the final show of GMB before the month-long summer break.
Morgan boasted that he is set to jet off to his luxury US pad in Beverly Hills in a matter of hours.
He then added: “Look at this face, happy face. I’m never getting out of bed at 3.45 ever again. Never again.”
Shortly after 6am he told viewers: “It’s our last day tomorrow before we break up for the summer.
“So last chance to see us, possibly ever.”
Susanna tweeted her surprise at his comment, writing: “Last show together tomorrow before the summer at GMB. ‘Possibly ever’ says Piers Morgan” followed by a shocked face emoji.

He recently caused outrage when he called gender fluid people “absurd”.
Writing in the Mail on Sunday, he attacked Kori Doty, a non-binary parent who has been in the news over their battle to exclude new baby Searyl’s biological sex from their birth certificate.
When Doty was on GMB, Morgan asked them if they were “born male or female” and repeatedly badgered them about their genitals.
The parent, from British Columbia in Canada, smartly hit back by asking: “If that’s the direction this conversation is going to go, can I ask you if one of your testicles hangs lower?”
Morgan was flummoxed, which gave Doty the opportunity to tell him: “What someone’s genitals look like when they are born does not actually give us accurate information about their gender.”
As a follow-up, Morgan wrote in the Mail on Sunday: “My number one pet hate at the moment is the absurd ‘gender fluid’ movement, driven by people who don’t wish to be defined as either male or female.
“Today, a ‘non-binary genderfluid’ Canadian named Kori Doty appeared on GMB to defend his/her decision to also define his/her newborn baby as non-binary gender fluid.”
He continued: “As we dived into the technical weeds of the debate, Mr/Mrs Doty declared: ‘What someone’s genitals look like when they are born does not actually give us information about their gender.’
“Of course not, why would any of us think otherwise?” Morgan added sarcastically.
He then brought this site into his piece, writing: “Later, gay online newspaper Pink News [sic] covered the story with the immortal headline: ‘PIERS MORGAN QUIZZED ABOUT HIS TESTICLES IN SPAT WITH NON-BINARY GOOD MORNING BRITAIN GUEST’.”
It is not clear why Morgan wrote the headline entirely in capital letters. We did not.
The TV presenter has been angrily hitting out against gender-neutral and non-binary concepts and people for months.
He lashed out against Emma Watson after she picked up the gender-neutral Best Actor prize at the MTV TV and Movie Awards in May.
He went on a bizarre rant in which he suggested he would call himself “an Arsenal tragic gender,” then said he might wear a dress at the news that a London school was instituting gender-neutral uniforms.
And the chat show host continued his rampage by telling a trans non-binary couple that non-binary children were “a contagion” and that “two or three” trans kids died from suicide last year.
