This short animation shows the beautiful relationship between two gay boys
A short animation showing the love of a closeted gay boy for the boy of his dream has been released, and it’s utterly adorable.
“In a Heartbeat” created by Beth David and Esteban Bravo tells the story of a shy boy whose heart pops out of his chest, and eventually outs him.
The moving four-minute film was first revealed earlier this year in a brilliant trailer.
Bravo said that they decided to explore LGBT themes through animation because it hasn’t been done very much.
“Being gay is a subject that hasn’t been widely explored in computer animation,” Bravo explained.
“We want to put out a message of love and self-acceptance to all the kids and young people who struggle to identify as LGBT+, just like Sherwin does,” David added.
Sherwin’s heart chases Jason across the school campus, before finally catching the boy in the school hallway.
His heart is then broken as other school kids watch on and judge him.
The film has been celebrated online for its exploration of love, heartbreak and self-acceptance.
Many people are calling for the film, which was funded on Kickstarter, to be made into a full-length film.
“A concept: make in a heartbeat a full-length movie,” one person wrote on Twitter.
Another added: “You’re wrong if you don’t think the short film “in a heartbeat” is the softest thing to come out of 2017 so far.”
