Dolphins caught having gay orgy in Australia
Glee once labelled dolphins as “gay sharks”, and it seems they weren’t so far from the truth.
Experts have long argued that some dolphins aren’t heterosexual.
Now a group of male dolphins have been caught having a gay orgy in Australia.
Yes, really.
Researchers based in Australia wanted to prove once and for all that gay dolphins are a thing.
To prove their hypothesis, they set about organising a big gay dolphin orgy off the Australian coast.
And the animals soon took part in the expected activity.
“These dolphins, all but three of them juveniles, organized themselves in four sub-groups in which they were observed engaging in socio-sexual behavior that included mounting and genital contact between individuals,” Krista Nicholson, of Murdoch University, explained.
“The subgroups joined, frequently forming a large group and then split again in different group compositions.”

Experts say male dolphins partook in the activity as a bonding exercise.
Janet Mann, an expert on dolphins, says it could just be that they are “practicing mating”, though.
Scientists at the University of Massachusetts previously argued that bisexuality is extensively found among male dolphins.
The researchers studied more than 120 bottlenose dolphins in Shark Bay, Western Australia, and discovered relationships of a considerably more complex nature than previously thought.
Co-author of the study, Richard Connor, told Discovery News that the dolphins engaged in extensive bisexuality, combined with periods of exclusive homosexuality.
“I work on the male dolphins and their social lives are very intense. It seems there is constant drama.
I have often thought, as I watched their complicated alliance relationships, that their social lives would be mentally and physically exhausting, and I’m glad I’m not a dolphin.”
