Coffee company forced to withdraw product because it causes ‘unwanted erections’
A coffee brand has been left red-faced after one of its products was removed over erection fears.
The Texas based company’s coffee was found to contain an ingredient akin to viagra.
Bestherbs Coffee LLC has now taken the decision to voluntarily remove its New Kopi Jantan Tradisional Natural Herbs Coffee from shelves.
The US’s administrator, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), revealed that the coffee contained desmethyl carbodenafil, which had not been properly declared on the packaging.
The drug has similar effects to erectile dysfunction drug viagra.

FDA officials warned that the undeclared ingredient could interfere with nitrates found in prescription drugs, as well as the ‘unwanted erections’.
The coffee was promoted online as a male enhancement product.
Company reps are now contacting customers – who stretch across the US – to warn them of the product’s contents.
It was also declared the coffee contains undeclared milk.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.

Thankfully, though, no illnesses related to consumption of the coffee have been reported to date.
According to CNN, the FDA advised the public not to purchase a similar product, Stiff Bull Herbal Coffee, which also contained the undeclared viagra like drug.
