RuPaul says Trump’s Presidency has led to a rise in LGBT television
RuPaul has said that he thinks Donald Trumpās Presidency has led to a rise in representation of LGBT+ people on TV and in the arts.
Speaking to the Wrap, the Drag Race icon
He said: āPolitically, it feels like our collective narrative has been abandoned. This country was about acceptance and inclusion, about open hearts and open minds. And as the government has gone away from that, I believe television, movies, music, the arts have taken up the slack, as they always do.ā
Asked whether heād prefer Trump to watch Drag Race to Fox News, RuPaul added: āNo, not really. Thereās nothing that could be done there. Our focus is on young people, and helping them articulate whatās in their hearts. Our show creates a dialogue with young people who feel the gamut of emotions. We want to get to them before Fox News does.ā

Of drag and its importance in the current political climate, he continued: āDrag has always been there to remind people to not take life too seriously, to not take themselves too seriously.ā
The Drag icon also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this year.
āSweet Cheeses! My heart is beating so fast right now!ā tweeted the star after hearing the news.
The move was announced on June 22 by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Walk of Fame Committee.
Other television stars and celebrities awarded stars include Simon Cowell, Lynda Carter and the departed Steve Irwin ā who was also known as the Crocodile Hunter.
It was announced that LGBT ally and Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence will be getting a star too.
āThe Committee looked carefully at each nominee and we feel that we have selected an eclectic group of talent that will appeal to the tastes of many fans around the world,ā said the member of the Walk of Fame committee and television producer Vin Di Bona.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a tourist and cultural hotspot in Los Angeles which was introduced in 1960 as a means to celebrate the glory of a community whose name means glamour and excitement in the four corners of the world.
Other high-profile celebrities joining RuPaul on the Walk of Fame include Star Wars actor Mark Hamill and musicians Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, Snoop Dogg and Mary J. Blige.
RuPaul has been on a hot streak lately, with RuPaulās Drag Race being renewed for a tenth season and winning an Emmy for hosting the show.
Possibly the most famous drag queen in the world, he has had an incredible career, making a number of film and television appearances before his hit reality show.

The star has even released 11 studio albums.
RuPauls Drage Race is currently in its ninth season and airs on VH1.
This January on the anniversary of the day they met, RuPaul married his longtime partner Georges LeBar.
