This teen’s response to her aunt’s homophobic ‘faggot’ rant is perfect
If anyone out there is worried about family members being homophobic, this excellent teenager has got you covered
18-year-old Charlie, who lives in the UK, posted screenshots of an argument she’d had with her aunt – who thinks it’s fine to use the word ‘faggot’.
It all kicked off when Charlie was called a “faggot” (yep, this is real) by her Aunt Marie, prompting Charlie to write on Twitter: “I got into a fight w my auntie and she said ‘at least I don’t have to worry about my kid being a f*ggot like your mum does’.”
Here’s what Aunt Marie responded…
After the argument, Charlie got a text from her aunt saying: “You need to stop being so sensitive I did not mean faggot in a bad way I just mean you gay people have a lot of drama.
“I tried to understand this bi shit you claim to be but you teenagers make stuff up all the time. Youre young you will find a man. You can change.
“If you think you cant accept my help dont come to Indies birthday I do not want you ruining the day.”
Fortunately, Charlie didn’t take the comments lying down
She shared her response on Twitter, which read: “Don’t worry about it! I know what you’re like after a few bottles of wine. I can’t make Indie’s birthday I’m afraid, I have a huge lesbian orgy that day and me and the other faggots have been planning it for months.
“By the way how’s your divorce going? I saw uncle Lee with his new girlfriend, she’s 20 years younger than you right?
“Speak soon!”
BURN.
Aunt Marie retaliated by telling on her niece…
But Charlie had preempted the ensuing telling off, writing on Twitter: “waiting for a phone call from my mum everyone pray for me”.
“I am going to be torn to shreds by my entire family but it was so worth it I don’t think I’ve ever felt this good”, she added.
And, as predicted, Charlie got a message from her mum, which read: “Charlotte Louise what the f**k have you done now”.
She also shared a text from Aunt Marie’s daughter (presumably), saying: “Seriously what the f**k is wrong with you how dare you speak to my mum like that”.
And, another message came in from her dad, who asked: “Why do I have 3 missed calls from your mum”.
Still, Charlie later explained on Twitter that her dad actually DGAF…
“I rang my dad and explained what happened he’s not mad at all and he gave me £50 I’m screaming,” she wrote.
Charlie also responded to claims that she’d made the story up for attention
She shared a note on Twitter where she explained: “I came on Twitter to vent…. the whole purpose of the thread was so I could let off some steam and actually laugh about how stupid it was.
“I don’t know how or why or when it blew up? It wasn’t my intention at all. I literally just wanted to scream about my ignorant family for a bit.
“Having a family that aren’t accepting is AWFUL and I would never use that for attention.”
Charlie added: “What I said to my aunt was horrible and I’ve never done anything like it before… I just snapped.”
And, naturally, Charlie vs. Aunt Marie was a hit on the internet:
The exchange went viral after Charlie shared the screenshots on her personal Twitter account. The original tweet now has more than 37,000 retweets.
Of course, people on Twitter absolutely loved her takedown of Aunt Marie…
“Aunt Marie slowly becoming more hated than David Cameron”, wrote one user.
“aunt marie prob voting for trump”, another joked.
So, if you’re ever subjected to any heinous homophobia by family members, remember Charlie – and stand up for yourself.
