Dying grandpa helped granddaughter propose to girlfriend in beautiful video
A grandfather who is dying of a terminal illness decided to try and be involved in his granddaughter’s wedding – by helping her propose to her girlfriend.
Sarah and Megan were dating for eight months when Sarah decided to pop the question with the help of her grandfather.
Speaking to Dancing with Her, Sarah explained that she adores her grandparents.
So when she found out that her grandfather had been given only three months to live, she set about racking her brains on how best to make the most of her time with them.
“We have always been very close. He is my best friend,” Sarah explained.
With the help of her family, Sarah filmed a video of her grandparents in which her grandfather asks for Megan’s hand in marriage on behalf of Sarah.
He says: “Would you please consider and agree to marry our granddaughter?
“Please, thank you, and I hope you both have a very, very happy life together.”
Sarah surprised her partner with a trip to the beach.
She took her laptop with her and hid a ring in her dress.
When they got to the beach Sarah took out her laptop and played the video for her partner.
Megan said yes and the couple went to Sarah’s grandparent’s home to celebrate with champagne.
The couple has set the wedding for October.
The couple shared the video of Sarah’s grandfather on YouTube, but he has since passed away.
Luckily, the couple will always have that memory to look back on.
