This grandma had the most adorable reaction to her granddaughter coming out
Coming out to your family. We’ve all been there.
It’s a daunting prospect when you have to figure out how to make your 80-year-old grandparents and 5-year-old cousin understand and accept your sexuality
One woman, Suna Huls, decided to take the leap and come out to her grandmother as bisexual.
Luckily for Huls, her grandmother who had the most beautiful reaction.
The grandmother has always been an avid knitter
Knitting is the grandma’s favourite past time too, she can even “do it with her eyes closed,” explained Huls.
“She knits jumpers, socks, beanies, gloves, etc for people in poor countries. A few times a year she sends them to those countries and start making more. She is such a sweetheart.”
The adorable grandmother decided put her skills to use and knit a jumper for her granddaughter
Taking to Tumblr, Huls shared pictures of her proud-looking grandmother and the creation she made in celebration of Huls’ sexuality.
The heart-warming pictures were later shared on Twitter and were retweeted thousands of times.
Huls told PinkNews that she was completely “overwhelmed” by the positive reaction.
“I was kind of overwhelmed. I had no idea it was going get so much attention.
“I was also happy, because I got to show the world how amazing my grandma is,” she explained.
Huls phoned her grandmother, Marry, as soon as she realised that the pictures had gone viral
The news of Marry’s new found internet fame came as a happy surprise to the family.
“I called her on Friday and told her she is Internet famous.
“It made me so happy to hear her laugh.”
The incredible positivity and support was especially important to Huls as she recently lost her mother (her grandmother’s daughter).
“I haven’t heard her laugh like that in a while,” Huls explained. “This just makes her feel loved and happy.”
She added that she “had no idea how she was going to react” when she came out, but knew that she would be supportive.
“I knew she loved me very much and I kinda expected her to be supportive because my grandma loves everybody.
Although her grandmother was nothing but supportive, it did take a bit of explaining
“I had to explain to her what it meant though. She doesn’t really know much about the LGBTQ community,” she Huls said.
Since the post went viral, Huls has come out to her entire family.
“It’s an epic way to do it. It turned out better than I thought.”
“I am really happy. I can finally be myself,” she added.
