Princess Diana’s butler Paul Burrell has opened up about his relationship with the late princess.

In an interview on Good Morning Britain, the former aid claimed that Diana had probably known about his sexuality.

Burrell, who came out as gay publicly earlier this year, said his sexuality was “implicit” in everything he did.

He told hosts Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway: “We never had that discussion, but it was implicit in everything I did.

“Richard, I chose her dresses, I did wonderful flower arrangements, I chose her jewels, I was her best friend.”

He added: “I think she understood.”

Asked if Princess Diana would have accepted his sexuality, he said: “Yes, because she never saw sexuality in anyone.

“She never saw race in anyone, she never saw colour in anyone.

“She saw people, and she was me as a person, and she said, ‘I’ve got the ability to look inside you and see who you are and she liked what she saw,’ and that’s why I stayed so long.”

The former royal aid, who married his husband earlier this year, is to appear on Channel 5 show In Therapy discussing his relationship with Diana.

The explosive programme sees famous faces reveal their inner-most secrets to a trained therapist.

The therapy session is expected to see him reveal some of his deepest secrets.

It comes after he divorced from his wife of 32 years.

For almost all of his life he kept his sexuality secret.

Burrell went on to marry Graham Cooper, a man he’s apparently been seeing for a decade, earlier this year.

2017 marks 20 years since Princess Diana passed away, with a special statue being commissioned to mark the occasion.
