Helen Mirren hits out at Melania: ‘She could take Trump down’
Dame Helen Mirren has hit out at Melania Trump, calling her the most powerful woman in the world, because she could take down the President.
In a new interview with Allure, Dame Helen took aim at the women in President Trump’s life, including Melania.
She said: “You look at old Mel there, and she is one of the most powerful women in the world because she could take him down.”
Referring to a video which appeared to show Melania batting away the hand of the President who reached out to hold hers, Mirren added: “She almost did that with the hand.”

But Melania was not the only one that Dame Helen hit out at.
Trump’s daughter Ivanka, who has been criticised for calling herself a champion of women, was also in the firing line.
Mirren added: “[Ivanka] talks a good game, but there’s no substance,”
She also went on to criticise Ivanka’s recent book ‘Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success’, saying: “Her book is so ignorant about how the majority of women live, talking about ‘Make time for yourself to have a massage.’ Puh-lease.”
Mirren also attacked the Commander in Chief himself, saying he “just said and did whatever it took to get what he desired. That is quite terrifying, because it means there’s a lack of morality there and a lack of
Of the White house under the Trump administration, she added: “It’s a bit like watching a car crash. There is a sort of mesmerizing horror—it’s why we love horror films.”
This is not the first time Dame Helen has hit out at the President.
In October 2016, she called him one of the last remaining misogynist “dinosaurs”.
And in May this year she hit out at Trump, speaking at Tulane University she said: “Whether you’re in the French Quarter or the Oval Office, no good can ever come from tweeting at 3 A.M.”
Fellow actor Meryl Streep has also hit out at the President multiple times.
The LGBT advocate was speaking at the Human Rights Campaign fundraiser in New York, where she was accepting an award for her support to the community.
In her speech, she claimed she had been attacked by “brownshirts and bots” for speaking out against the country’s new President.
The actress was attacked by Mr Trump after she used an acceptance speech at the Golden Globes to say how ashamed she was of his behaviour.
The President took to Twitter following the comments to call the most decorated performer in film history “overrated”.
