Shania Twain reveals whose nude celeb pics inspired ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’
Shania Twain has revealed the inspiration behind her hit song That Don’t Impress Me Much.
The 1997 award winning song found it’s roots in a revealing picture of famous actor Brad Pitt.
Speaking to Billboard at a Spotify panel, the Canadian singer revealed that she was away on holiday with a friend baking holiday cookies.
Twain was in the middle of writing the album “Come On Over” when nude photos of Pitt and his girlfriend at the time, Gwyneth Paltrow, surfaced.
The pictures, which Pitt later sued over as they were obtained without permission, got barely any reaction from Twain.
She explained that she was shocked that so many people began to obsess over the photos.
Twain said: “This was, like, all the rage.
“I just thought, ‘I don’t know what all the fuss is about.’
“I’m like, well that don’t impress me much, I mean what is all the fuss.”
She recalled thinking, “we see people naked every day” and could not understand the attention the photos had received.
Twain stressed that the song was not a diss to Pitt.
Rather, it was a diss to those who became wrapped up in the media whirlwind of attention that came after the revelation of the photos.
She said: “I wasn’t picking on Brad Pitt.
“That was just the association in that moment, and things we make fusses about and whatever.
“Of course, it could have been any gorgeous guy,” she added.
15 years since releasing her last album, Twain is eagerly awaiting the release of the new album, titled Now, on September 29.
