RuPaul wins second Emmy for Outstanding Reality Host

RuPaul has won a second Emmy award for his hosting on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The drag queen was named Outstanding Host of a Variety, Nonfiction Or Reality Programme for the second consecutive year.

The show also won Emmys for Outstanding Costumes, Picture Editing and Makeup For A Structured Or Competition Reality Program.
The show’s premiere episode for season nine, which featured Lady Gaga, took the award.
Jamie Martin, the leader editor who accepted the award, said that they were proud to champion “positivity and acceptance”.
He added that they were honoured that they could “bring that message to a world that needs it more than ever”.
RuPaul’s Drag Race and Untucked were nominated for seven Creative Arts Emmys over all.
The show is yet to compete for Best Competition Series in the Primetime Emmy broadcast next week on September 17.
In a recorded acceptance speech from Drag Con NYC, Ru thanked the Television Academy for making “this queen so proud”.
Season nine of the show broke ratings after moving to VH1.
The edgy drag reality contest has been around since in 2009, and has earned a cult following from fans both gay and straight.
However, the show escaped the attention of the Emmy judging panel for years on end, with the repeated snub becoming a running joke among Drag Race fans.
A new show about RuPaul is rumoured to be in the works.
The original show, titled ‘Queen’ will soon be coming to Hulu.
It will tell the story of RuPaul rising to fame on the 1980s New York City club circuit.
RuPaul hinted that Willow Smith may play her in the 1980s biopic.
