Fake news: Milo Yiannopoulos lied about his home being destroyed by Hurricane Irma, claims Miami Herald
Right wing figure Milo Yiannopoulos made up that his house was destroyed by Hurricane Irma.
That’s according to the Miami Herald, which is based on the locality of the destroyed home claimed to be Milo’s.
In a ‘joke’ by the self-styled alt-righter, it would seem Milo used the devastation of the category five hurricane to gain publicity for himself.
Last week Yiannopoulos appeared to joke about the devestation caused by the storm.
He wrote on Facebook: “In more positive Irma news, Richard Branson’s Necker Island has been devastated.”
As the storm headed towards Haiti, he added: “Irma is about to finish what Hillary started: leaving Haiti in ruins.”

On Sunday he posted a photo on Facebook of the roof having been ripped from a building in West Bricknell.
It was captioned: “MY HOUSE IS GONE”.

But now local reporters have questioned his claims.

The Miami Herald tracked down the house pictured in Milo’s post to identify just who had lived there.
A reporter spoke to a neighbour of the destroyed property, who had witnessed the drama unfold, and they had some stark comments.
It turns out the property belongs to someone else entirely – a man called Gerard Duhart, who had evacuated ahead of the storm.
It is believed he has a house in the area, but the one he posted on social media was, according to the local newspaper, most definitely not his.
