Two lesbians stabbed in a brutal homophobic attack while going to Pride
Two lesbians have been abused and violently attacked on their way to Dallas Pride.
The attacker punched and stabbed them as he screamed that they were going to hell.
The women, Love Seiber and Krystle Seats, were with their friend Vanessa Stepney and going to Sunday’s parade when they were approached by a homeless man.
Love told Fox 4 News: “I thought … ‘Oh, he’s going to ask us for money.’”
But the assailant came closer and began yelling and hitting Krystle.
He then took out a pocketknife and chased Love and Krystle into a nearby building, where he cornered them in an elevator and stabbed them multiple times.
Love and Krystle are both gay, and said that Holbert was shouting, “I see what you are doing. You are the child of Satan, and God sees what you are doing.
“You guys are going to go to hell.”
Love said: “Everybody was screaming and I didn’t know how we were going to get out of the situation. […] There was nobody there to help us.”
She was stabbed multiple times in the neck, face, arm, forehead, and chest, before a witness helped restrain the attacker until the authorities arrived.
22-year-old Brandon Holbert has been arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
No hate crime charges have been filed.
According to Fox 4, police records do not reflect Holbert’s homophobic rant.
Instead, the records “emphasise [his] erratic behaviour.”
Recovering back home in Oklahoma, Love said her attacker should be charged with a bias crime.
“My family definitely thinks he got off a little too easy,” she said.
