Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner has registered to vote as a woman
Donald Trump’s son-in-law registered as a female voter in New York, it has emerged.
Jared Kushner, a senior advisor to Trump who is married to his daughter Ivanka – another advisor to the President – also registered in New Jersey with a gender defined as “unknown.”
Public records first reported by Democratic opposition research group American Bridge show that when Kushner registered to vote in New York in 2009, he checked the female box.
Brad Bainum, press secretary for American Bridge, told Wired that the revelation spoke volumes about Kushner’s aptitude for his role in the White House.
“Kushner can’t even fill out the most basic paperwork without screwing it up, so it’s a mystery why anyone thinks he’s somehow going to bring peace to the Middle East,” he said.
“Would anyone but the president’s son-in-law still have a West Wing job after repeated disclosure errors and a botched a security clearance form?”
Kushner, who has been handed a large portfolio of different issues by the Trump administration, has had to revise his federal security clearance forms multiple times to include meetings with foreign contacts.
He told congressional investigators that the mistakes were down to a “miscommunication” with his assistant.
Kushner was one of several people close to Trump identified earlier this year as having registered to vote in two states.
It was revealed that Steve Bannon, Trump’s daughter Tiffany, Sean Spicer and Steven Mnuchin also had multiple registrations.
This was after Trump called for an investigation into voter fraud, “including those registered to vote in two states,” after repeatedly saying, falsely, that millions of people had voted illegally in November’s election.
There is no suggestion that any of them voted twice.
Despite being touted as liberal influences on the President, Kushner and Ivanka Trump have had little effect in terms of stopping transphobic policies from being enacted.
Donald Trump’s Defense Secretary James ‘Mad Dog’ Mattis is pushing ahead with the administration’s plans to ban transgender people from the military.
In the face of multiple civil rights lawsuits, Trump officials have already blocked recruitment of any military personnel who identify as transgender, while they are working on plans to ‘purge’ existing soldiers from next year.
And in February, the Trump administration officially revoked President Barack Obama’s guidance protecting trans students in public schools.
