Lesbian spared prison after throwing urine at ex-girlfriend’s new partner
A woman has been given a suspended sentence after harassing her ex-girlfriend and ex’s new lover with urine and faeces.
Colchester Magistrates’ Court was told that 58-year-old Karen Green, who lives in Essex, had initially remained good friends with her ex after breaking up 25 years ago.
But she started showing signs of aggression after the new woman showed up.
Green became enraged when her ex entered into a relationship with someone new, taking it upon herself to react in an extremely unpleasant way, the court heard.
Throwing urine at her ex’s new partner was her first act of retaliation, followed by smearing the new woman’s car with dog faeces.
She then accused the couple of trying to make her jealous, kneeling by their car and threatening to slash the tyres with a knife.
The abuse quickly turned physical, with Green throwing oranges at the new partner before hitting her on the head.
The prosecutor added: “She [the new partner] found excrement had been thrown onto her car.
“She had it cleaned and returned later and then mud was thrown on the newly cleaned car.
“She then recalls urine being thrown at her.”
The couple were also abused in writing by Green, who left a threatening note in her car while it was parked outside of the couple’s house for three days.
Green’s mitigation personnel stated that there were times when she had been provoked by the victims during the eight months in which she harassed them, adding that she felt “ashamed” of her actions.
The victims have both reported elevated stress levels since the incidents occurred.
In a victim statement, Green’s ex’s new partner said: “I worry before I go to bed and am very stressed – I feel as if this has taken over my life.
“I had a pacemaker fitted due to stress and anxiety caused by Karen.”
At Colchester Magistrates’ Court, Green admitted to the harassment and to possessing a knife.
She was given a 12-week sentence, suspended for 12 months.
Green also received a 12-month-long restraining order, and was sentenced to 120 hours of unpaid work and a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
She was told to pay £85 in costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
