Arrow star Colton Haynes marries Jeff Leatham in beautiful Palm Springs wedding
Arrow and Teen Wolf star has married his partner, celebrity florist Jeff Leatham.
The actor only publicly confirmed he is gay last year, coming out in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, after years of tabloid gossip.
But he’s definitely out and proud these days – sharing snaps this weekend from his wedding to Jeff Leatham, a fashion expert and the former host of TV show Flowers Uncut.
The pair wore matching suits to their star-studded wedding in Palm Springs, which took place on Saturday.
According to People Magazine, the wedding was officiated by Kris Jenner.
Celebrity guests apparently included Chelsea Clinton, Sofia Vergara, Joe Manganiello, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Dylan O’Brien, Emily Rickards, Billie Lourd and Cheyenne Jackson.
Writing on Instagram, Haynes said: “Last night I married the man of my dreams. I’m still crying happy tears. I love you & am excited to spend the rest of my life with you.”
He shared photos of the pair on a bed of roses, and as well as a video of the pair kissing while Cher song ‘I Got You Babe’ plays.
Haynes added: “Cheers – It’s Official – I Got You Babe, For the rest of my life – Husbands – Mr. and Mr. Haynes-Leatham #WhatMoviesAreMadeof – – thank you @louisvuitton – @tomford – for making us look so sharp!”
Moderm Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson posted a selfie with his husband Justin Mikita at the wedding, writing: “Congrats @coltonlhaynes & @jeffleatham. We love you so much! Welcome to the married club. ❤️””
The wedding comes just months after the pair got publicly engaged, which they announced on Valentine’s Day.
The engagement came with a little help from Cher, who recorded a special video message for Haynes., which played as Leatham popped the question.
In a statement to E! News, Haynes said: “I’m so blessed and happy for the future and my life together with Jeff.”
The star’s manager explained the proposal, saying: “Jeff’s marriage proposal to Colton was incredible, starting with a personalized video message from Cher singing their favorite song ‘I Got You Babe’, followed by video messages from their family members and close friends — including Melanie Griffith, Serena Williams, Ally Maki, and many more.
“After Colton said yes, the proposal continued with a fireworks display set to Bruno Mars’ Marry You as the couple danced in tears.”
Haynes recently gave an emotional speech to the Human Rights Campaign about coming out.
He explained: “It’s taken me a long time to get here. It’s a humbling experience to receive this award from the HRC and to know this is about my visibility.
“I never made a decision to be gay. It came just as naturally as the colour of my eyes.
“But it’s up to me to be honest and open with everyone. And that’s why I’m here tonight, and why it’s so special for me.
“I’m asked to play so many different roles as an actor, but tonight I can actually be myself for the first time.
“It feels incredible… I feel extremely lucky. I feel lucky just knowing we have a fierce, united community that believes equality is our birthright. It’s not a slogan.”
Haynes added: “I don’t necessarily feel especially deserving of this recognition.
“We all know there are many other people who have come before me and blazed the trail as LGBT advocates and as role models, and I’m walking in their shoes and following their lead.
“Instead I’ll accept this award as a promise.
“My promise is simple and real. And I’m not making it to you – I’m making it to the next generations of LGBT youth, and I hope my example will give them the confidence and hope to be who they are as well, and for them to conquer their own fears and hesitations.
“I want to give them just a little more courage to know that they’re loved just as they are, and they’ll grow up strong and proud.”
“Sometimes we listen to the wrong voices, the people who tell us we can’t and we shouldn’t. We all do… we have to listen to our own voices and our own hearts, and that’s when we become the best people.”
He continued: “You gave me the strenght to live my life openly and honestly now, and I have never felt healthier or happier in my entire life.
“I have many hopes for the future, and many ambitions as an actor and an artist.
“On a personal note, I have to confess that I also want to raise kids of my own, eventually, maybe half a dozen, to have a basketball team or something like that, but I would love to not raise them alone.
“With the historic achievement of marriage equality last year, none of us need to go through the world alone without the commitment of the person we truly love.”
He also revealed he was forced to date women by Hollywood bosses.
“I was literally told from the day that I moved to Los Angeles that I could not be gay because I wouldn’t work,” Colton told Sirius XM radio.
“The I was with my management team and team of people that just literally told me I couldn’t be this way.”
“They tried to set me up with girls. I was rumoured to date Lauren Conrad for six months because they were kind of angling a story.”
