Sam Smith can’t control his excitement at singing with Fifth Harmony in Carpool Karaoke

Sam Smith is the latest superstar to climb into James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke.

The Oscar-winning singer joined James ahead of the release of his new album, The Thrill Of It All, out today.

And he got the surprise of his life with a special guest.

Sam was quick to share his love for girl group Fifth Harmony, revealing: “When I hear them I feel free, I feel alive, I feel like the woman in me is on fire.

“Work From Home, I listen to it every time before I go out on stage. I think it’s my wedding song.

“I want to walk down the aisle to it in heels. I would love it if I got Fifth Harmony to come out to my wedding.”

He then appeared to (genuinely) get the fright of his life.

After the talkshow host had made a few calls, the fur remaining members of the group climbed into the back of the 4×4.

“Oh I’m dead! NO! Oh my God! I’m shaking,” Sam screamed, noticeably excited as the four girls hopped into the back seat.

“That just made my year.”

Sam says his new album is inspired by the struggle in Iraq.

He spent time in Mosul, northern Iraq, to learn about injustices in the world while penning his latest songs.

“I spent five days in Mosul and came back embarrassed that I had known so little about the world and other people’s lives,” he told Billboard magazine.
