The names Sadiq Khan and Naomi Campbell tend to win people over alone.

But when they are paired together for a Vogue interview in which they celebrate the LGBT community, who are we to resist?

To introduce Edward Enniful’s reign as the Editor-In-Chief of British Vogue, Naomi Campbell has interviewed London Mayor Sadiq Khan about the London that they live in, discussing the proudest moments they have had in their careers.

The LGBT community soon entered focus, as Khan spoke about how he walked London’s Pride Parade in July of this year.

“As far as the LGBT+ communities are concerned, I think it’s a source of embarrassment that I’m the first ever mayor to walk the entire Pride event in London. Last year,” he told her.

“I wouldn’t be a model if it wasn’t for gay men,” Naomi replied.

“I wouldn’t even exist.”

Campbell said that Khan was a “very vocal advocate for the LGBT+ community and an ally to women”.

As well as discussing the important role the queer community plays in the city, the pair also mused on the impact of brexit.

Khan said that it would put “obstacles” in “the way of talent coming here.”

“And what’s the secret of every great city in the world? Talent,” he said.

Campbell said that she also shared the same worries.

“I’m concerned that they’re going to go elsewhere,” she added.

The interview, which was originally posted on Enniful’s Instagram page, marks Edward Enninful’s first as Editor-in-Chief.

The December issue, entitled “Great Britain”, has been praised by some as heralding a new diversity in British fashion.
