16-year-old ‘killed his gay dad in a fire to be with his biological father in prison’
A 16-year-old has been charged as an adult with murder and arson after a fire consumed his familyās home and killed one of his adoptive dads.
Jordan Marin-Doan, who is also charged with auto theft, allegedly murdered 45-year-old Jason Doan so āhe could get a cell next to his biological father in prison.ā
Jason and his husband Alan woke last Thursday night in their Indianapolis home to find fire blocking the exit.
Though Jason managed to get Alan and their other two adopted children out of the house to safety, he died from his injuries and smoke inhalation.
The familyās three dogs also died in the blaze.
āHe saved me and my kids,ā Alan said.
āHe gave his life for us, making sure we were okay.
āHe got me out with my kids and told me to take them to a safe place. That was his priority ā our kids ā making sure they were safe.ā
On Facebook today, Alan wrote: āIļø still canāt believe you are not hereā.
He added that āthis week has been so hard for me, but Iļø know you are in a better place with are three beautiful [dogs]ā.
The widower added: āBaby Iļø miss you and themā¦love you and Iļø will keep going for [our] kidsā.
āIļø will see you one day, my lovely husbandā.
After he escaped the inferno with two of his children, Alan realised his other son was missing ā along with the familyās Jeep.
The teenager was taken into custody two days after the fire, and on Tuesday was waived to adult court, according to court records.
Fire investigators have reportedly determined that a fuel used in weed eaters was poured on a carpet in the house.
And the 16-year-old reportedly admitted to police that he poured the fuel out in the house and then set fire to it with a lighter.
Alan also informed police that the teenager had been threatening to kill everyone in the house.
The affidavit reportedly states that the most recent threat was made on October 28.
Police have said that the 16-year-old said he did not know why he started the fire.
He also allegedly told police heād previously started a different fire at another location.
