Woman brutally beaten by five attackers because she’s gay
A woman has said she was attacked by five people at a fast food restaurant because she is a lesbian.
Sabrina Hooks, of Inglewood, Los Angeles, says she was verbally and physically abused by five people in a Jack in the Box restaurant.
She was with her girlfriend, identified as Morgan, at the restaurant on 29 October when she said a mixed group entered and began verbally abusing them.
“They said, you know, I’m a dyke and I’m gay and I had to keep my ‘hoe in check’ and just for no reason,” Hook told Eye Witness News.
Hooks then says the attack turned violent after Hooks says she tried to defend Morgan.

“It was like a horror movie, except I wasn’t watching it…I was in it,” she said.
“It’s not even about my sexuality, it’s about human decency.”
After being pushed and shoved, Hooks says she was punched and eventually ended up hospitalised with missing teeth.
She also suffered permanent damage to her left eye.
“Looking at her makes me want to cry every single time I look at her. To just assume that two guys can seriously put their hands on a female, it’s shocking,” Morgan added.
The girlfriend went on to say that nobody in the Jack in the Box restaurant came forward to help them.
“I wish we lived in a world where things weren’t like this,” Morgan said in an interview with Fox 11.
Hooks says she came out in high school and had never faced abuse like she did on 29 October.
She says she has been left mentally scarred by the attack.
“For it to get violent and, like I said, no one helped, that’s just what really stunned me and it still hurts. It makes me fear just to walk down the street,” Hooks said.
The Los Angeles Police Department has been given CCTV footage from inside and outside of the Jack in the Box.
The couple has also told police detailed descriptions of the attackers.
Hooks has said she hopes her attackers are caught because she wants to avoid the same thing happening to others.

She said: “Just a little justice would be nice… Just so the next person doesn’t have to worry like I do.”
A Go Fund Me page has been set up to cover medical costs for the couple and has raised $1,280 of a $5,000 target.
The page reads: “As you can imagine the unplanned medical bills and need for some dental work has exhausted all of her funds. But this campaign is more than funds for new teeth, eye glasses and medical bills its also about a need for prayer and postive vibes sent her way for her mental health. As you can imagine this was scary. So please share and anything from words to a penny that you can give is greatly appreciated.
