Catherine Zeta-Jones to play notorious bisexual drug smuggler in Cocaine Godmother
The story of a notorious drug smuggler is to be played by Catherine Zeta-Jones for a new film.
Cocaine Godmother tells the story of Griselda Blanco, one of Columbia’s most notorious cocaine smugglers.
Blanco became known for her orgies with both men and women – using sex to help navigate a major underground network of drugs.
The Columbian was the head of the Medellín Cartel and a trailblazer of the Miami-based cocaine drugs trade during the 1970s and 80s.
She is thought to have carried out over 200 murders and was suspected to be making millions of dollars at day at one point.
Blanco – who was assassinated in 2012 – was feared by many in the illegal drug trade and known for her ruthlessness.
On February 20, 1985, she was arrested by Drug Enforcement Administration agents in her home and held without bail.
After her trial, Blanco was sentenced to more than a decade in jail.
While in prison, she continued to effectively run her cocaine business through other representatives.
Now Welsh actress Zeta-Jones plays the infamous criminal in a new TV film.
Producers haven’t shied away from her prolific orgies, either, judging by the newly-released trailer.
The film is set to air on US TV network Lifetime in 2018.
