Calvin Harris fans are urging him to keep his awesome Australian marriage equality promise

Five years ago, record producer Calvin Harris made a pact with a fan about remixing a major Spice Girls hit if – and only if – same-sex marriage was legalised in Australia.
And in the past few days, marriage equality has indeed been legalised in Australia.
In an agreement with fellow DJ Filip Odžak, Harris vowed that he would release a remix of the Spice Girls’ 1996 hit, 2 Become 1.
Fans of the DJ have been coming together on Twitter to urge Harris to be true to his promise.
Australian Odžak met the world-famous DJ after Sydney’s Stereosonic festival five years ago.
Hanging out backstage, Odžak says that he and Harris “made a deal – sealed with a handshake”.
The deal, he told Calvin in a text, was that the number-one artist “would remix Spice Girls 2 Become 1 when marriage equality was finally legalised in Australia.”

“I’m very excited to hear what you do with the iconic track to celebrate this momentous occasion.
“A deal is a deal!” Odžak added.
Odžak wasn’t the only one excited about the possible remix, with many fans calling for Harris to stick to his promise.
“BIIITCH IMAGINE A SPICE GIRLS REMIX WITH HIS CURRENT STYLE OF MUSIC, IM HERE FOR IT,” one person wrote.

Another supporter tweeted directly to Harris, writing: “keep your promise.
“It will be a hit for sure. ”

Following the tweet, Odžak appeared on a radio show to shed some light on how meeting the DJ – and scoring his phone number – went down.
“I don’t know how it came up, but we were talking about what your bridal dance would be,” he said.
“I said – being a lifelong devoted Spice Girls fan – that mine would be 2 Become 1.
“Then we got on to the topic of why it wouldn’t happen, because there is no gay marriage yet.
“He was in shock. ‘No! I thought it was totally legal in Australia’.

“Somehow we just made the pact: ‘When they finally legalise it, you can do a remix for me’,” he said.
The Spice Girls song 2 Become 1 was released 21 years ago, and has long been a fan favourite.
However, those same supporters were disappointed earlier this year when Victoria Beckham squashed hopes of the iconic girl-band reuniting.
