Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi evacuate their home as fire threatens to engulf it
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi have had to evacuate their house in California as fire spreads through the state.
Together, the blazes cover an area larger than New York City and Boston combined.
And now Ellen and Portia’s beachfront property – which has been up for sale since March – is in danger.
The Thomas Fire, which is now the fifth largest fire in modern Californian history at 230,000 acres, is threatening the house.
In fact, it’s so imperilled that the celebrity couple has had to evacuate.
Ellen revealed the latest developments yesterday, tweeting her 76 million followers to tell them the terrifying news.
She said: “Our house is under threat of being burned.
“We just had to evacuate our pets.
“I’m praying for everyone in our community and thankful to all the incredible firefighters.”
Later, she tweeted an upbeat message about her fellow Californians.
“Everyone in the Montecito area is checking up on each other and helping to get people and animals to safety,” she wrote.
“I’m proud to be a part of this community.
“I’m sending lots of love and gratitude to the fire department and sheriffs.
“Thank you all.”
Around 4,000 firefighters have been attempting to control and extinguish the various blazes.
More than 800 buildings have reportedly been destroyed since the fires began last week.
The terrifying blazes have led about 200,000 people to evacuate their homes across the southern part of the state.
The house Ellen called her “forever home” was put on the market for $45m, but is yet to receive an offer.
In a bid to shift the property, the price has been slashed to $39.5 million – a 12% reduction.
