Netflix’s Grace and Frankie has dropped its season 4 trailer – and it’s everything you wanted
Netflix’s Grace and Frankie has released its first trailer for season 4.
The comedy series – featuring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin – focuses on the women’s unlikely friendship after their husbands leave them for each other, its first season receiving broadly positive reviews.
Both women were rewarded for their performances on the show with SAG nominations for Outstanding Performance in a Comedy Series.
While last season ended on a cliffhanger about whether the pair would stick together, this season sees the women stronger than ever – through “co-independence.”
It also sees the now-husbands Sol and Robert – played by Sam Waterston and Martin Sheen respectively – navigate the notion of an open relationship.
Sheen has described how he wanted his character’s gay relationship to be realistic.
Many storylines have been dedicated to exploring the complicated aspects of Robert and Sol’s marriage, and it looks like this is set to continue this season.
The show’s Twitter account encapsulated viewers’ excitement for the new episodes with an image of Frankie dancing for joy with one of the infamous vibrators she and Grace built a business around last season.
Fans took to Twitter to confirm their elation:
Brilliant.
And the official Grace and Frankie Twitter account loves to reply.
Former Friends star Lisa Kudrow is set to enter the fold as a guest star this season.
Producer and writer of Grace and Frankie, Marta Kauffman (who is also a former producer and writer of Friends), has spoken about the importance of redefining roles for older women.
“Women appreciate the honesty of it because they never hear the truth. No one told me when you get to a certain age, you start losing pubic hair,” she told Indiewire.
“People need to know.
“The next chapter is really about, for the women, coming to terms with age”.
Whatever future directions they take the show in, we’re confident that it will keep on delivering.
Grace and Frankie returns to Netflix with its fourth season on January 19.
