This 10-year-old drag queen has the best advice for LGBTQ+ youth
A 10-year-old drag queen has shared their top tips and advice for other young LGBTQ+ people, and it’s the best.
Desmond Napoles, who you might know better as the drag queen Desmond is Amazing spoke to Mic about the importance of acceptance, Donald Trump and embracing ice queen looks.
The rising star who is now acquainted with the queen of drag, RuPaul, as well as other LGBTQ celebs like Tituss Burgess, explained that when it comes to being young and LGBTQ, a lot of support needs to come from the family unit.
He said: “If somebody says that it’s not okay to be LGBTQ, then just tell them to pay it no mind because they will not be as jolly and holly as the person who is getting bullied by that person that says it’s not good to be LGBTQ.”
The wise 10-year-old went on to add that regardless of other peoples reactions to you, you should always embrace your individuality.
“My motto is: “be yourself, always.” So you should always be yourself,” he explained.
He added that by being true to yourself it would only help fight negative people.
“Express your inner you because when you express your inner you, it’s much better to deal with negative people.”
The drag queen also spoke about Donald Trump and talking about him during the holiday periods.
Desmond quipped: “As long as they’re not talking anything good about him.”
Desmond isn’t the only young queen on the scene.
Further north from Desmond’s New York haunts you can find Canadian queen Nemis Quinn Mélançon Golden.
Golden, who you might know better under their drag name Lactacia, hit the headlines earlier this month when he stole the show during a Bianca Del Rio comedy set.
In his breakthrough moment, RuPaul’s Drag Race queen Bianca Del Rio pulled him onstage was performing in Montreal, Canada, as part of the Werq the World Tour.
The eight-year-old Montreal native won the audience over with his sassy answers, explaining that it wasn’t his first drag show.
Bianca told him: “I absolutely adore you.
“I love the fact that you’re here, and what I love most about this is that your mum is here supporting you.”
