Scissor Sisters release remix of SWERLK for the victims of Orlando

The Scissor Sisters earlier this year broke their hiatus to release a new single to benefit survivors of the Pulse club massacre and have again released music to benefit those survivors.
The Filthy/Gorgeous band had been on an “indefinite hiatus” since 2012, with lead singers Jake Shears and Ana Matronic both moving on to other projects.
But they broke the hiatus earlier this year when they released SWERLK.
The track was a collaboration with producer MDNR, and all proceeds from the song go to a charity that benefits survivors of the Orlando Pulse gay club shooting, the Contigo Fund.
Now the band has teamed up with Indaba Music for a worldwide remix competition.
The winner of the competition was UK-based DJ Martin Sharp.
Runners up Zefir, from Poland and Beat’Z from Brazil and Sonic Emblem from Japan.

The proceeds from the new remixes will also be wholly donated to the Contigo fund.
The band’s frontman Jake Shears said in the summer: “Glad to support such a great cause. Through music hopefully we can help to bring people together and provide support for the LGBT Latinx community in Orlando.”
MNDR, who collaborated on the track, also commented, saying: “Swerlk is about celebrating life, dancing, individuality, differences, fierceness, and sometimes Swerlk is even a shoulder to cry on.
“The Swerlk is not only a dance floor anthem, but it is a way of life, a mindset, and a show of solidarity.”

The original track dropped just days before the first anniversary of the shooting, which rocked the world on June 12 last year.
The track was unveiled as part of a collaboration with LGBT media NGO GLAAD.

The Contigo Fund welcomed the track.
