Boy George says Lewis Hamilton deserves a ‘break’ over princess dress video

Boy George says Lewis Hamilton should be given “a break” after the F1 champ shamed his nephew for wearing a princess dress to millions of followers.
The Culture Club singer, 56, claimed the reaction to Hamilton’s comments that “Boys don’t wear princess dresses” had been “overly dramatic.”

He wrote on Twitter: “Let’s all give @LewisHamilton a break now. Far worse is said everyday by far worse people with far less style! Move.”
He added: “People make mistakes and that’s how they learn!”
When a fan challenged George, saying Hamilton had brought “shame” to the racing community, the singer replied: “I feel the reaction is quite overly dramatic and I’m the queen of ‘princess dresses’.”
The singer, whose real name is George O’Dowd, has previously been at the centre of criticism himself, after he was sentenced to 15 months in jail in 2009 for falsely imprisoning a male escort by handcuffing him to a wall and beating him with a metal chain.

Lewis Hamilton, the reigning Formula One World Champion, was forced to apologise for an Instagram video in which he yelled at his young nephew, mocking him for wearing a princess dress.
Hamilton, 32, took issue with his nephew’s Christmas present – to such an extent that he shouted at him on camera.
He uploaded the video to his 5.7 million Instagram followers.
Hamilton, who has won the Formula One World Championship title four times and been crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year, starts the video by saying: “I’m so sad right now.”

With a ” ” emoji constantly at the bottom of the screen, he panned to a small child wearing a beautiful blue-and-pink dress and waving a pink, fluffy wand.
“Look at my nephew,” says the 32-year-old multi-millionaire.
“Why are you wearing a princess dress?” he asks the child, berating him for wearing something he clearly likes.
“Is this what you got for Christmas?”

The boy nods, grinning.
“Why did you ask for a princess dress for Christmas?”
And then, full-on yelling at an infant, he tells him: “Boys don’t wear princess dresses!”
The child turns away, covering his ears.
Hamilton later apologised for his inappropriate post saying that he gives his “deepest apologies” for the post and that he loves that his nephew “feels free to express himself”.
The apology was subsequently questioned after it emerged he had liked streams of tweets saying he should not have had to apologise.
