This hilarious meme of Lewis Hamilton and Princess Diana has gone viral

Lewis Hamilton has repeatedly sparked outrage over his shocking verbal attack on a boy for wearing a dress – and has now been turned into a wonderful meme.
The reigning Formula One World Champion induced anger and disgust this week when he posted an Instagram video to his 5.7 million followers in which he yelled at his young nephew for wearing a dress.
After his nephew agreed that he asked for the dress for Christmas, his uncle full-on shouted in his face, telling him: “Boys don’t wear princess dresses!”

Following the backlash, Hamilton, 32, apologised for the video, which has since been removed from his page.
The former BBC Sports Personality of Year winner, who has won the Formula One World Championship title four times, offered his “deepest apologies” for the post.

But this apology was thrown into doubt by Hamilton’s actions afterwards, which included liking more than a dozen tweets saying he shouldn’t have apologised.
One fan wrote: “You’ve done absolutely nothing wrong Lewis.
“You should never have to apologise to the PC brigade who are getting worse every year.”
Another message which he liked read: “Nothing to forgive Lewis!”

In the end, his likes didn’t just nullify the apology, but caused a second backlash against the British star.
One person said simply that “an empty apology is worse than no apology at all,” summing up a lot of people’s feelings in the process.

And now, because the internet is what it is, a wonderful Twitter user has pointed out Hamilton hypocrisy in the most hilarious way.
Known only as Matt, the user has found photos of Hamilton and Princess Diana wearing near-identical outfits and posted them next to each other.

Above it, he has posted a slightly altered version of Hamilton’s now infamous line, writing: “Boys don’t dress as princesses”.
One imagines that he then had to go and find a microphone to drop.

The tweet has gone viral, attracting around 78,000 retweets and likes.
It highlights how arbitrary and ridiculous it is to gender clothing.
After all, sometimes you’ll wear clothes which someone of another gender has worn.

People were delighted with the meme’s creation, which must have taken some serious research.
