Ivanka Trump praised Oprah’s sexual harassment speech and people are baffled
Ivanka Trump sent a tweet shortly after Oprah Winfrey gave a rousing speech at the Golden Globes supporting the TV star’s message.
Oprah received the Cecil B DeMille award at the ceremony on Sunday, and stunned the audience into silence with her speech about sexual harassment in Hollywood.
But not everyone found the tweet from the First Daughter, which called Oprah’s words “empowering” and “inspiring”, easy to swallow.
She wrote: “Let’s all come together, women and men, and say #TIMESUP!”

Many took to Twitter to point out that her father, President Trump, is one of the people accused of using power and influence to ends of sexual misconduct.
Over a dozen women have accused the President of sexual harassment.
The list includes Juliet Huddy, Natasha Stoynoff, Jill Harth, Jessica Leeds, Ninni Laksonen, Rachel Crooks, Cathy Heller, Mindy McGillivray, Summer Zervos, Kristin Anderson, Jessica Drake, Karena Virginia and Temple Taggart.

MSNBC host Chris Hayes tweeted in response to Ivanka: “Who should tell her?”
And actor and Me Too supporter Alyssa Milano also replied saying: “Great! You can make a lofty donation to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund that is available to support your father’s accusers.”
Another, Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin called Ivanka “clueless” over the tweet.
“This is the most hypocritical, clueless statement in her regrettable time in the WH,” Rubin said.
“Your father has a trail of victims and supported Roy Moore, Ivanka. YOU are indeed part of the problem Ivanka. #complicit.”

And apparently, her tweet did not go unnoticed in the White House.
Axios reporter Jonathan Swan tweeted that she had “raised eyebrows” with the tweet supporting Oprah’s words.
Media mogul Oprah spoke out as she became the first African-American woman to be awarded the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes.
The honorary award is given to performers for their “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment” at the annual movie and television awards show.

Addressing the glitzy awards show, Winfrey said: “It’s not lost on me that at this moment, there are little girls watching as I become the first black woman to receive this award”.
The TV and movie star, who is a billionaire, also praised the work of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
“We all know that the press is under siege at the moment,” Winfrey said.
“I want to say that I value the press more than ever before.
“Which brings me to this: What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have.
“I’m especially proud and inspired by all the women who felt strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories.”

The message also came just hours before a report that found that Winfrey is “actively thinking about” running for President in 2020.

This is not the first time Ivanka has been accused of being out of touch for sending a tweet.
Last year she came out in support of pride month despite the White House not acknowledging the celebration at all.

She wrote online: “Logging back on after Shavuot, wishing everyone a joyful #Pride2017.
“This month we celebrate and honor the #LGBTQ community.”
But not everyone was happy with the message, which came in contrast to the complete erasure of Pride Month celebrations in the White House calendar.
