People are trolling UKIP as their latest leader faces calls to resign after just 115 days

The UK Independence party is being relentlessly mocked on social media after its sixth leader in 18 months was given a unanimous vote of no confidence by the party.

UKIP’s National Executive Committee voted this weekend to pass a vote of no confidence in leader Henry Bolton.

Bolton has said he plans to continue as leader and can only be removed by a vote by the party’s membership.

The struggling party has churned its way through a string of leaders in the past two years – with the reins passing between Nigel Farage, Suzanne Evans (whose acting leadership was revoked before she even took up the post), Nigel Farage again, Diane James, Nigel Farage again again, Paul Nuttall and Steve Crowther.

As Henry Bolton is facing potential removal from UKIP, many people took to Twitter to mock the political party.

A Twitter hashtag sprung up, #SuggestANewUKIPLeader and people were quick to throw in their suggestions for the potential seventh leader of the party in under two years.

One person pointed Henry Bolton towards a future career in country music.

Another managed to put an episode of ‘Black Mirror’ into one tweet.

Twitter, never change.

Henry Bolton made headlines last year after saying that equality has gone “too far” at his leader’s press conference.

He told press: “Quite honestly, I think it is getting a bit far when we are encouraging children in some cases to question their own sexuality.

“I think that is certainly going too far.”

Bolton is facing increasing pressure to resign after seven senior members of the party resigned on Monday, including the deputy leader.

The 54-year-old sparked controversy earlier this month by leaving his wife Tatiana Smurova for 25-year-old Jo Marney.

Marney was then promptly suspended from UKIP after The Mail on Sunday revealed racist texts in which Marney called Megan Markle a “negro” whose “seed [will] taint our royal family.”

Marney, a model, also called Markle “a ‘gender equality’ t***”.

Bolton has refused to bow to calls to resign in the light of the texts.

As leader Henry Bolton clings on to his position, UKIP is reportedly facing bankruptcy.

It was already more than £380,000 in debt before last year’s general election, according to The Mail Online.
