Republican Congress candidate Antonio Sabàto Jr has a steamy past playing gay

A Republican candidate for Congress has a history of playing gay in steamy films.
Antonio Sabàto Jr, who has spoken out about his support for “family values”, is standing as a GOP candidate in California.
The right-wing politician even personally endorsed Donald Trump during early in the 2016 presidential election campaign.
Now his history of near-naked raunchy film roles has been laid bare online.

Mr Sabàto, 45, is best known as a Calvin Klein model and actor of three decades.
He also played gay in a string of films, including Testosterone, in which he plays a gay Argentine who disappears under mysterious circumstances.
The 2003 film includes some very raunchy scenes, with Sabàto and another male actor stripping off as they get down to make love.

He also appeared in Deadly Skies, a 2005 film about the world ending due to a giant asteroid heading towards Earth.
In that film Sabàto plays the character of Richard Donovan, a former Air Force officer discharged under Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

He appears in two soft core gay sex scenes.
Asked about the films, he said: “I’ve done a lot of stuff that I’m really proud of, and also the fact that I came from another country and I succeeded in show business, that to me was incredible and so I’m still in the business.

“It’s just they’re trying to pull all this stuff against me because when you’re attacked as much as you can see with our president, it means you’re doing something right. They’re scared of me.
“Once I get in Congress in November, there’s a lot of work to be done. We only have two years to get things done before the next election.
“So, I’m eager to do it. I have the energy and the ability to do it, and I’m going to do it for the American people. I can’t wait.”
The actor claims his vocal support for President Trump has damaged his career.

“I was blacklisted from Hollywood,” Sabato said, claiming he had no regret for supporting Trump and has been to the White House since the election.
“I’m proud of our president. Look at everything he has been able to do in such a short amount of time,” he said.

Sabàto is running in California’s 26th district, which Democrats narrowly won in 2014.
The area used to be closely split between Republicans and Democrats, but has grown more liberal in recent years, with Hillary Clinton winning 58% of the district’s votes in 2016 to Trump’s 36%.
