Paloma Faith reveals why she won’t publicly gender her child
Pop star Paloma Faith made headlines last year after revealing she is to raise her child as gender-neutral.
The Crybaby star said she doesn’t want to force an identity on her newborn.
Faith has been private since giving birth to her first child in December 2016 – avoiding discussing details of her close family.
She has been so secretive about her family she that her and boyfriend Leyman Lahcine haven’t even revealed the baby’s name.
Now the singer has clarified her reasons for not sharing the child’s gender.
The star told The Mail on Sunday’s You magazine: “I’m not in denial of gender but I want my child to feel that everything is available to them.
“And I have absolutely no problem if my child grows up not feeling an affinity with the gender they were born with, or if they’re homosexual or straight or whatever.
“It’s important to me that they’re given all the opportunities to be the person they want to be.”

The star added: “I won’t say whether I have a boy or a girl for privacy reasons.
“I want my child to go to normal schools and integrate with kids from different backgrounds as a human being, not as a child of a celebrity.”
In a new interview with the Mirror last year, Faith said she plans to raise all of her children gender-neutral.
She told the Mirror: “I’m loving being a mum. I want two or three kids in all and they’ll be gender neutral.”

Going on, she said she planned to dress her kids in gender-neutral colours.
“I just want them to be who they want to be.”
She added: “There were a lot of people who misunderstood that I thought I would make someone who was gender-neutral for the rest of their life.
“What a weird concept anyway because you can’t create that.”
