Ellen Page and Emma Portner reveal the truth behind their beautiful marriage
Ellen Page and Emma Portner have opened up about their relationship, which saw the two tie the knot over the New Year.
Speaking to The New York Times, the Canadian newlyweds told the story of the first time they each saw each other.
The actor and dancer both said that at that moment, they knew they were connected.
For Page, it happened last spring.
The 30-year-old, who entered popular culture with the 2007 film Juno, said that when she saw Portner dancing in one of her incredibly popular Instagram videos, she was hooked.
“I thought: ‘Damn, this girl is so talented and so cool.’
“I knew right away we were both creative spirits.”

Portner, 23, has choreographed dances for events ranging from Justin Bieber concerts to rock musical Bat Out of Hell, which runs through Meat Loaf’s greatest hits.
For her, this union has been an even longer time coming.
Portner, who also teaches contemporary jazz at New York’s Broadway Dance Centre, was just a kid when she saw Page acting.
“I watched one of Ellen’s films when I was about 12,” she said, “and I remember my friend saying: ‘You are just like this girl.’
“I knew we’d cross paths someday – I just wasn’t quite sure when or how.”
The two innovators are now married and living in Hollywood with Page’s terrier, Patters.
They have been posting pictures of themselves together on social media since last spring, and they are adorable.
Last month, Page joined a legion of other celebrities in groundbreaking campaign Time’s Up, which aims to end sexual harassment in Hollywood and beyond.
More than 300 entertainment figures have joined the initiative, which has a $13m legal defence fund to help those in less privileged positions combat harassment in the workplace.
Page joined the campaign after accusing X-Men director Brett Ratner of sexually harassing her when she was 18.
Ratner, who has been accused of rape by former employee Melanie Kohler, allegedly told a woman standing next to Page: “You should f*** her to make her realise she’s gay.”

Page said she had also been sexually harassed by a director when she was 16, and “sexually assaulted by a grip months later”.
The Hard Candy actress came out in 2014, in an incredible, emotional speech to GLAAD, but her allegations dated from the mid-2000s, when she was 18 and still struggling with her sexuality.
