Uber driver appeals for help after passenger ‘launched into anti-gay tirade and smashed his phone’
An Uber driver is appealing for information regarding a drunken passenger who launched an anti-gay tirade and smashed his phone and ground it into the pavement on New Year’s Eve.
The incident, which took place on New Year’s Eve in Mount Pleasant, California, saw a passenger named Jane launch into a drunken rant at the driver when he asked her to leave the vehicle.
When the driver noticed Jane was swaying, he asked if she was okay.
“Of course I’m okay. Shut up, stupid,” she replied.
“Don’t talk to me like that please,” the driver then replies.
After the pair exchange words, Jane’s rant escalates, resulting in the driver asking her to leave the car as she swears at him.
“I don’t give a f***,’ she says. ‘Shut up you f***in’ faggot. How’s that?” she replies.
The driver then tells her to get out and the entire incident is being recorded.
It is then her friend, who has been quiet throughout the journey, pulls the dashcam cord to stop the journey being recorded before leaving the vehicle.
The driver said that Jane was ‘extremely intoxicated’ as she grabbed the phone off of the dashboard, and smashed and stomped on it.
Although the driver called the police after the incident, he says the women have not been located, and is appealing for further information.
