Madonna posts angry ‘songwriting camps’ Instagram rant
Madonna has hit out at being sent to “songwriting camps” in an Instagram post to commemorate her Ray of Light album.
The US singer was responding to a post by her manager Guy Oseary to mark 20 years since the iconic album was released.
Guy Oseary posted a video of them together during an MTV interview with the caption: “20 year anniversary of @madonna RAY OF LIGHT album… one of the greatest albums of all time… It was the first @Madonna album I worked on..
“You can see from this video the kind of relationship we had then… NOTHING has changed.. if you filmed us today, it would be the same dynamic..
“Love this woman,” he added. “Love this album. One day she will hopefully do a tour for this album.. it deserves to be performed from start to finish… respect to @williamorbit for his brilliant work on this album.”
Madonna did not seem to be in the same party mood, however, responding in the comments with complains of “songwriting camps”.
“Can you help me now please!!,” she wrote. “Remember when i [sic] made records with other artists from beginning to end and I was allowed to be a visionary and not have to go to songwriting camps where no one can sit still for more than 15 minutes.”
She then added five flame emojis and wrote: “Coming soon.”
The Immaculate Collection, released in 1990, sold some 32 million copies, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time.
Her most recent record, Rebel Heart, was the lowest selling album of her career after it sold one million copies.
Last Christmas the singer made headlines after she took in her brother, Anthony Ciccone, after seven years living on the streets.
The 61-year-old has been battling alcoholism and sleeping rough in Michigan, with bitter temperatures low enough to potentially kill him.
Sister Madonna has repeatedly offered him help, but he turned down the offers.
“I’m a zero in their eyes – a non-person. I’m an embarrassment,” he said in a 2011 interview.
“If I froze to death, my family probably wouldn’t know or care about it for six months.”
“My father would be very happy if I died of hypothermia,” he added. “Then he wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore. He’s old school, he grew up in the depression.”
He finally accepted Madonna’s offer of rehab at Christmas 2017
