Bisexual lighting is your new favourite viral meme

Bisexual lighting is your new favourite meme – and you don’t even know it.

It’s been used in Hollywood blockbusters like Black Panther, Atomic Blonde and Logan.

Singer, actress and general icon Janelle Monáe also had it in the video for her new sexually charged bi anthem, Make Me Feel, in which she flirts outrageously with Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson.

As you can see above, when producers use pink, purple and blue hues to make their stars shine, you’ve got bisexual lighting.

This is of course because the bi flag is pink, purple and blue.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA - JUNE 09: People marching with anBi, a bisexual organization, carry a bisexual flag in the 43rd L.A. Pride Parade on June 9, 2013 in West Hollywood, California. More than 400,000 people are expected to attend the parade in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities. (Photo by David McNew/Getty Images)

Our recognition of this global phenomenon is down to eagle-eyed viewers, who noticed that an increasing number of music videos and films were utilising the pleasing light combination.

It’s not new, either.

Demi Lovato, who has said she is open to dating women, was bathed in beautiful bi lights in her 2015 bi anthem Cool for the Summer.

The CW and Netflix’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s bisexual hero Darryl Whitefeather used the lighting scheme in his incredibly catchy coming out song, Gettin’ Bi.

Black Mirror’s award-winning episode San Junipero had some fun with bi lighting.

And British singer Dodie has been proudly displaying her sexuality through lighting for ages.

People are pretty damn happy with the lighting that’s sweeping the world.

One wrote: “just watched Janelle Monae’s Make Me Feel video and, alas, the bisexual lighting strikes again. I love us.

“I love our distinct and incredible aesthetic.”

They added the valid point: “is this what straight ppl feel like all the time”.

Another said: “I don’t go out unless the venue has bisexual lighting”.

Fair.

One person said that they “love the new janelle monáe & love that i now know about ‘bisexual lighting’ but furious that i wasn’t in bisexual lighting in all previous photos”.

We all have regrets.

One said: “IM SCREAMING THAT LIGHTING IS TRULY BISEXUAL CULTURE”.

Another wrote that “im seeing black panther in 2 hours heck yea,” followed by the message: “ITS SO F***ING GOOD but the scene w the bisexual lighting is the highlight of the movie, sorry”.

Can’t argue with that.

May all your photos and films be illuminated with bisexual lighting.
