Jack Maynard admits he was ‘scared’ when he was kicked off I’m A Celeb

Former I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here contestant Jack Maynard has revealed that he found it “scary” when he was removed from the jungle.

The vlogger was booted off the show after a slew of posts on Twitter with anti-LGBT and ā€œracistā€ sentiments were uncovered.

In a number of tweets posted between 2012 and 2013, Maynard used the N-word, as well as anti-LGBT slurs.

ā€œCompletely forgot you know how I got it YOU RETARDED FAGGOT,ā€ he wrote to one person who said he had profited from his brotherā€™s fame.

The 23-year-old is the younger brother of singer Conor Maynard.

In another post, he wrote: ā€œhahaha shutup you faggotā€¦ By the way who hit you with a shovel?ā€

The slurs led to public backlash.

Even ITV presenter Lorraine Kelly pitched into the debate.

ā€œWhat an idiot, what an idiot! You are right it does come back and bite you on the bum if you write something. If itā€™s unacceptable then, itā€™s unacceptable now,ā€ she said on her daytime show.

Reports emerged following his exit from the jungle that he had ā€œbeggedā€ a 14-year-old fan to send him nude pictures through his Facebook account.

According to Mirror Online, he told the teenage girl that her ā€œboobs are so niceā€ and ā€œwould look good in a bra shotā€ but later branded her a ā€œboreā€ and ā€œugly freakā€, when she refused to share pictures.

The girl involved told The Sun: ā€œHe was 16, I was 14. It was something that happens to everyone.

ā€œI never once felt harassed. We were kids, itā€™s not once harmed me at all in any way. Itā€™s in the past. It is a serious allegation to make, but youā€™re a kid, you make mistakes.

ā€œHe didnā€™t know how old I was, and I didnā€™t know how old he was at the time. I cannot stress enough that the messages were harmless.ā€

Appearing on Good Morning Britain yesterday, Maynard recounted the moment he found out he was getting kicked out of the jungle because of the controversy.

He said: It was horrible it was quite scary to be honest because I got taken out first thing in the morning I didnā€™t really know what was going on.

ā€œI went to the medical hut to just be greeted by the producers who didnā€™t really tell me much at the time.

ā€œThey just said ā€˜there have been some accusations that weā€™ve got to take you out of the show’. So I was just panicking I wasnā€™t really sure what was happening.

ā€œEventually I got to the hotel got my phone, spoke to my manager and my brother and thatā€™s when I really found out what had happened.ā€

Maynard had apologised at the time of the controversy but reiterated his regret on the show.

He insisted that his young fans should ā€œlearn from the mistakesā€ he made ā€œwith things I said onlineā€.

Maynard added that he would like another chance to ā€œprove himselfā€ by going back into the jungle.

I didnā€™t get the worst of it while I was in there, maybe I deserve it who knows, so maybe I should go in there to face my biggest fears,ā€ he added.
