Jack Maynard admits he was ‘scared’ when he was kicked off I’m A Celeb
Former I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here contestant Jack Maynard has revealed that he found it “scary” when he was removed from the jungle.
The vlogger was booted off the show after a slew of posts on Twitter with anti-LGBT and āracistā sentiments were uncovered.
In a number of tweets posted between 2012 and 2013, Maynard used the N-word, as well as anti-LGBT slurs.
āCompletely forgot you know how I got it YOU RETARDED FAGGOT,ā he wrote to one person who said he had profited from his brotherās fame.
The 23-year-old is the younger brother of singer Conor Maynard.
In another post, he wrote: āhahaha shutup you faggotā¦ By the way who hit you with a shovel?ā
The slurs led to public backlash.
Even ITV presenter Lorraine Kelly pitched into the debate.
āWhat an idiot, what an idiot! You are right it does come back and bite you on the bum if you write something. If itās unacceptable then, itās unacceptable now,ā she said on her daytime show.
According to Mirror Online, he told the teenage girl that her āboobs are so niceā and āwould look good in a bra shotā but later branded her a āboreā and āugly freakā, when she refused to share pictures.
The girl involved told The Sun: āHe was 16, I was 14. It was something that happens to everyone.
āI never once felt harassed. We were kids, itās not once harmed me at all in any way. Itās in the past. It is a serious allegation to make, but youāre a kid, you make mistakes.
āHe didnāt know how old I was, and I didnāt know how old he was at the time. I cannot stress enough that the messages were harmless.ā
Appearing on Good Morning Britain yesterday, Maynard recounted the moment he found out he was getting kicked out of the jungle because of the controversy.
He said: It was horrible it was quite scary to be honest because I got taken out first thing in the morning I didnāt really know what was going on.
āI went to the medical hut to just be greeted by the producers who didnāt really tell me much at the time.
āThey just said āthere have been some accusations that weāve got to take you out of the show’. So I was just panicking I wasnāt really sure what was happening.
āEventually I got to the hotel got my phone, spoke to my manager and my brother and thatās when I really found out what had happened.ā
Maynard had apologised at the time of the controversy but reiterated his regret on the show.
He insisted that his young fans should ālearn from the mistakesā he made āwith things I said onlineā.
Maynard added that he would like another chance to āprove himselfā by going back into the jungle.
I didnāt get the worst of it while I was in there, maybe I deserve it who knows, so maybe I should go in there to face my biggest fears,ā he added.
