Jack Maynard admits he was ‘scared’ when he was kicked off I’m A Celeb

Former I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here contestant Jack Maynard has revealed that he found it “scary” when he was removed from the jungle.

The vlogger was booted off the show after a slew of posts on Twitter with anti-LGBT and “racist” sentiments were uncovered.

In a number of tweets posted between 2012 and 2013, Maynard used the N-word, as well as anti-LGBT slurs.

“Completely forgot you know how I got it YOU RETARDED FAGGOT,” he wrote to one person who said he had profited from his brother’s fame.

The 23-year-old is the younger brother of singer Conor Maynard.

In another post, he wrote: “hahaha shutup you faggot… By the way who hit you with a shovel?”

The slurs led to public backlash.

Even ITV presenter Lorraine Kelly pitched into the debate.

“What an idiot, what an idiot! You are right it does come back and bite you on the bum if you write something. If it’s unacceptable then, it’s unacceptable now,” she said on her daytime show.

Reports emerged following his exit from the jungle that he had “begged” a 14-year-old fan to send him nude pictures through his Facebook account.

According to Mirror Online, he told the teenage girl that her “boobs are so nice” and “would look good in a bra shot” but later branded her a “bore” and “ugly freak”, when she refused to share pictures.

The girl involved told The Sun: “He was 16, I was 14. It was something that happens to everyone.

“I never once felt harassed. We were kids, it’s not once harmed me at all in any way. It’s in the past. It is a serious allegation to make, but you’re a kid, you make mistakes.

“He didn’t know how old I was, and I didn’t know how old he was at the time. I cannot stress enough that the messages were harmless.”

Appearing on Good Morning Britain yesterday, Maynard recounted the moment he found out he was getting kicked out of the jungle because of the controversy.

He said: It was horrible it was quite scary to be honest because I got taken out first thing in the morning I didn’t really know what was going on.

“I went to the medical hut to just be greeted by the producers who didn’t really tell me much at the time.

“They just said ‘there have been some accusations that we’ve got to take you out of the show’. So I was just panicking I wasn’t really sure what was happening.

“Eventually I got to the hotel got my phone, spoke to my manager and my brother and that’s when I really found out what had happened.”

Maynard had apologised at the time of the controversy but reiterated his regret on the show.

He insisted that his young fans should “learn from the mistakes” he made “with things I said online”.

Maynard added that he would like another chance to “prove himself” by going back into the jungle.

I didn’t get the worst of it while I was in there, maybe I deserve it who knows, so maybe I should go in there to face my biggest fears,” he added.
