Demi Lovato has explained how she sees her sexuality.

The Sorry Not Sorry singer, a longtime LGBT advocate, revealed last year that she was open to dating women, saying: “That’s how I’ve always felt.”

And now she has opened up further about her sexual orientation.

During an interview with InStyle, Demi said: “I’m very fluid, and I think love is love.

“You can find it in any gender.

“I like the freedom of being able to flirt with whoever I want.”

But the global megastar said that she had benefited from being single for a while.

“I’m not suffering because I’m alone,” said Demi.

“There were many years I was in a relationship and I wasn’t learning about myself. Now I’m learning about what I like, what I need, and what I want.”

She said she wanted to find someone who would make her laugh and “treat me like a queen.”

The singer added that she was always prepared to take a risk when it came to finding love.

“I’m normally the first one to make the move,” she said.

“I’m always the one who says, ‘Let me get your number.’ Or I slide into their DMs on Instagram.”

Demi, who is trained in jujitsu, Muay Thai and boxing, also made a jab at Donald Trump, who she has repeatedly criticised.

While attacking a red punching bag, she joked: “Sometimes I imagine it’s our president.”

New rumours about Demi’s sexual orientation surfaced after she was spotted holding hands with another woman in September.

The woman who she was getting close to at Disneyland in Los Angeles was reported to be DJ and producer Lauren Abedini.

This excited fans, but Lovato has always previously resisted attempts to label her sexual orientation.

Demi has also been reluctant to open up about the lyrics to her song Cool for the Summer, which many say has Sapphic undertones.

The song’s lyrics include: “Got a taste for the cherry / I just need to take a bite”, and “I’m a little curious, too / tell me if it’s wrong, if it’s right / I don’t care / I can keep a secret, can you?”

When Alan Carr asked whether the song was about same-sex relationships, Lovato said: “I’m not confirming, and I’m definitely not denying.”

Demi has long been an LGBT activist though, as seen when she chose Danica Roem, the first transgender person to be elected to the Virginia House of Representatives, to be her date to the American Music Awards.

The 25-year-old star said: “We connected because I heard her story – and when I heard [it] I was just completely inspired by it.”

As an anti-bullying activist, Demi related to Roem’s struggles, which she spoke about in her emotional YouTube documentary, Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated.

The singer also helped gay couple Rayvon Owen and Shane Bitney to get engaged during one of her concerts over the weekend.
