Manchester Arena bomb victim Martyn Hett given permanent memorial on Coronation Street set
Coronation Street has unveiled a tribute to superfan Martyn Hett as part of its new set.
Martyn was one of 22 people killed in the Manchester Arena bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in 2017. He was later buried in a Corrie themed coffin.
Today the 57-year-old soap revealed its new set extension, including a specially commissioned mosaic covered memorial bench dedicated to the 22 victims.
The bench will have pride of place in the urban garden in memory of superfan Martyn and all those who lost their lives.
Martyn’s family were the first people to see the new set last week during a private visit.
The late PR worker became famous online for his viral video, “The Audrey Roberts Noise”, referring to the inquisitive “Hmmm?” the character often concludes her sentences with.
Audrey herself – star Sue Nicholls – was there to cut the ribbon on the new set.

The moment was pre-empted by a rendition of “The Audrey Roberts Noise”.
Series Producer Kate Oates said: “The Victoria Street extension represents an exciting chapter in Corrie history: an amazing new stage, full of dramatic potential.
“Our amazingly talented design team have created everything from scratch – but it still manages to have the feeling of always having been there, just around the corner.”

Martyn was buried in a funeral service themed around the hashtag #bemoremartyn, which social media users to share the 29-year-old’s life.
Mariah Carey, Martyn’s favourite singer shared a video message which was played at the ceremony.
A number of Coronation Street stars also attended the funeral.

His mother got a tattoo as a lasting tribute to her son.
She is still very “angry” with the man who killed her son, she said at the time.
“The man who did this was a young man who was brainwashed and radicalised from an early age,” she said.
“He did what he thought was the right thing in his crazy mind and he did it and that was the end of it.”
