RuPaul’s Drag Race fans recreate one-shot ‘Kitty Girl’ video and it is everything
Whatever you think of the divisive Drag Race All Stars finale, one of the stand-out moments was the one-shot ‘Kitty Girl’ challenge.
The Drag Race cast and crew channelled OK GO for the video, performing one long lip sync over RuPaul track Kitty Girl – with added verses by Trixie Mattel, Kennedy Davenport, BeBe Zahara Benet and Shangela.
And the challenge has inspired a group of Drag Race fans to make their own version – which threatens to surpass the original.
Utah-based Trevor Myrick uploaded his own take on the challenge, which features his friends Brody Hunter, Eric Boscan, Jeffrey Gerard Van Hulten, Ryan Ireland, Cameron Vakilian in a log cabin.
It’s fair to say it’s a hit so far – with more than half a million views on YouTube.
The gang’s loving recreation of the clip is near perfect, with each of them taking a verse – and they even recreate the troublesome leg kicks at the end.
One fan joked: “What we’re really missing, though, is the bonus footage with all the drama when they decided who was cast in which role.”
The clip has earned praise from on high, including condragulations from RuPaul, who shared it on Twitter.
Michelle Visage added: HOLY. HELL. I CANNOT. WHO ARE THESE BOYS”.

Kitty Girl has re-entered the charts in the UK after the Drag Race All Stars finale, with sales surging 1160%.
The song is currently holding out at number 99 in the top 100.
If it keeps its place, the track will be RuPaul’s first UK chart entry in 20 years – since his appearance on ‘It’s Raining Men… The Sequel’.
RuPaul this week became the world’s first drag artist to be recognised with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The 57-year-old host of RuPaul’s Drag Race said he was “overcome with so much emotion” to get the honour he’d dreamed of since he was a child.
“This is absolutely the most important moment in my professional career,” the television personality said.
He appeared to accept the award with his husband Georges LeBar, as well as his three sisters and his former high school teacher.
Legendary actress, fellow Netflix star and supporter of LGBT rights Jane Fonda officially presented him with the accolade.
Fans lines the streets for hours waiting to catch a glimpse of RuPaul, many of them thanking him for making drag mainstream.
“As a kid we’d come up here to Hollywood Boulevard,” he said as he received the star.
“I’d look at all the stars and dream that one day, I could be one of the stars on Hollywood Boulevard.
“I feel like I’m being knighted.”
Oscar winner Fonda said getting to know him has been “one of the big pleasures of my life” and that it “should be at least three sizes bigger than any other star”.
“He created an industry that has given hundreds and hundreds of jobs and dreams to so many.”
It’s not the first honour for the queen of drag in recent days.
Last week he welled up as he received a personal message from his idol Judge Judy.
The Drag Race star admitted that he was blown over by the message from a woman he considers a role model.
He likened the message to being told he had done well at life by his own mother.
The interview was for CBS Sunday Morning program interview in which he spoke about his career, his family and the impact of Drag Race on young people.
In the recorded message Judge Judy said: “When I think about RuPaul, I think about three words, ‘talented’, ‘brave’ and ‘always honest’,” the Judge said in the message.
“He knows who he is, he understands life, so I’m glad you’re celebrating him this morning.”
Overcome with emotion watching the video, RuPaul appeared to struggle to stay composed.
“To hear someone I respect like this, say that to me is like hearing my mom say ‘you done good kid, you done real good’,” RuPaul said after he watched the message.
