Yaaaaas! Queer Eye has been renewed for a second season

Queer Eye will be returning for a second season, and everything is suddenly alright in the world.
Streaming giant Netflix confirmed today that the rebooted makeover show, which has won the hearts of audiences across the world, will be coming back for a second helping after its all-too-brief first run.
A reimagining of noughties TV staple Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, the rebooted Queer Eye is more woke than the original – dealing with Trump’s America and police brutality while bringing the ‘Fab Five’ on a mission of acceptance across… well, across the state of Georgia.

All of the Fab Five – fashion expert Tan France, culture expert Karamo Brown, design expert Bobby Berk, grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness and avocado slicer Antoni Porowski – are expected to return for the second season.
The news was announced by Netflix as it picked up a number of unscripted series, as it branches out from the cable-style drama niche that landed its first big hits.

Netflix VP of content Bela Bajaria said: “These series are indicative of what we’re trying to accomplish for Netflix unscripted: working with world-class producers to create the best unscripted shows on television.
“These series elevate the genre with innovative takes on familiar formats. They deliver immersive and nuanced stories. They elicit so many emotions from viewers, from tears of laughter to tears of joy — and that’s just Queer Eye.”

Tan France wrote: “HUGE NEWS!!! We’re coming back for Season 2 ya’ll!!”
Karamo Brown added :”Season 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Feeling extremely blessed to get to help more people with my four brothers who I love and am inspired by daily! #Fab5 let’s do this!!!!”
Fans have reacted with joy at the news.
Some expressed hope that having ditched the ‘for the Straight Guy’ label, the show would continue to branch out across its second season – by featuring women and participants of other genders.
Netflix baking series Nailed It! also landed a renewal, as did sitcom One Day at a Time – which features a number of LGBT characters.
Queer Eye’s culture guru Karamo Brown recently gave a heart-wrenching speech about last month’s school shooting in Parkland and his own time at the high school.
Speaking at HRC’s Spring Equality Convention, Brown spoke about seeing his own school at the centre of the tragedy, telling the crowd how it felt both as a former student and a parent.
He said: “When I saw on the news a few weeks back that my alma mater was being called the site of the world’s deadliest school massacre, you all cannot imagine how much my heart broke.
“To see that school, my high school, on television, and students be running out of the same hallways that I used to walk around gleefully broke my heart.”
Brown then used his platform to join the growing group of voices calling for stricter gun control laws.
“You know, not only as an alum, but also as a parent now, thinking about those precious lives that were lost, it means it’s time for change. Enough is enough.”
