Spice Girls to reunite for animated superhero film
The Spice Girls are set to reunite for a new adventure on the big screen.
According to Variety, the five members will all feature in an animated superhero film.
Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwell have all reportedly signed up for the project.
Each of the characters will be voiced by a Spice Girl, and will take on a “girl power” unique to that member of the band’s personality.
As well as these “girl powers,” the film as a whole will also focus on the Spice Girls’ message of girl power.
The project is now being shopped to potential production partners – and one of them better bite, because this film sounds like it’s going to be incredible.
Rumours of a reunion for the legendary band surfaced last year, when a TV special and album were said to be in the works.
It seems that the other band members really have now forgiven Victoria for saying last year that the Spice Girls looked like “five men in drag” at the height of their fame.
The iconic singers’ old bonds were strengthened by Mel B’s difficult divorce proceedings, according to The Sun.
Geri Halliwell – Ginger Spice herself – is also reported to have helped indirectly, with the birth of her son Monty providing a uniting source of joy.
Last year, Geri Horner finally apologised for leaving the Spice Girls.
It was nearly 20 years ago when she turned her back on the band.
The Spice Girls were midway through their world tour when the news broke, throwing everyone into a state of confusion.
In response to a fan account which pointed out it was the anniversary of this heartbreaking event, Geri tweeted: “I’m sorry about that … , everything works out in the end , that’s what my mum says! X”.
Last June, Geri performed her first single for 12 years, dedicating it to her late friend George Michael.
Mel C also paid tribute to the star in an exclusive interview with PinkNews in August.
She said: “I’d met him a few times, and I still feel very emotional about it.
“I was devastated.”
She also said the artist she’d like to collaborate with on a track would be Sia, calling the openly bisexual singer a great role model.
“I love her – obviously, there are so many fantastic female artists, but there are probably not that many who I consider to be great role models”.
