Lesbian couple that plunged off the cliff were allegedly targeted by the KKK
The lesbian couple who died alongside at least three of their adopted children when their truck inexplicably drove off a California cliff had fled a former home after being targeted by the Ku Klux Klan, reports have revealed.
Jennifer and Sarah Hart, alongside children Markis, 19, Jeremiah and Abigail, both 14, died when their car plummeted 100ft onto rocks from the Pacific Coast Highway in California.
The group were said to have left a burning cross in the family’s front yard, which is a common scaring tactic from the hate group to say that they are watching a family.
“They told my wife about some trouble they had back in Minnesota,” Eric told DailyMail.com from his West Linn home.
“It was from a hate group, which sounded to me a lot like the Ku Klux Klan.
“They had a burning cross in their front yard and that’s why they moved away from that area.”
Although initial reports from the police indicated that they could not see skid marks, the police do not believe the crash “was intentional.”
“While it has been documented that the car was traveling at 90 mph upon impact, it is not conclusive whatsoever,” Baarts said.
“We do have reason to believe, however, that the crash was intentional. This is all based on preliminary information.”
Jennifer and Sarah Hart, both 39, were reported to Child Protective Services just days before they died, after one of their child Devonte said to a neighbour he was being punished by his mothers who were not feeding him.
The neighbour also reported that another of the children came to their home at 1:30 a.m. in 2017 asking for their “protection.”
Sarah Hart pleaded guilty to domestic assault charges in 2011. Her plea deal led to the dismissal of a malicious punishiment of a child charge.
“If this was an intentional act, I truly believe we are going to come to that conclusion,” said Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman.
